SORREL PUNCH
Sorrel punch is a popular holiday drink in Jamaica and the Caribbean during the Christmas and New Year season.
Hibiscus sabdariffa also known as 'sorrel' is rich in beta-carotene, vitamin C, and protein.
Ingredients:
1 pound of Red Sorrel (Hibiscus Sabdariffa).
2-4 oz ginger roots
2 quarts of hot water
2 oz orange peel
2 cinnamon stick
brown sugar
6-8 cloves
Method:
1. Wash sorrel
2. Place in a stainless steel bowl
3. Add hot water, ginger root, orange peel, cinnamon stick, and cloves
4. Allow to stand for 4-6 hours.
5. Strain and sweeten to taste.
6. Serve with ice cubes.
